Latvijas Banka releases a 1 LVL memory «Stone coin», the external silver ring of which includes a granite disk. The graphical design was completed by Laimonis Senbergs and plaster model by Janis Strupulis.
«Stone has a special place in our culture – it is a strong material and spiritual culture sign, the application of which is clear from its name – the boulder, the foundation, millstone, sacrificial stone, great stone. And now, thanks to artist’s impression and careful craft of the Mint there will be a coin stone – or stone coin, which links granite and silver in one masterpiece», – Latvijas Banka reports.
The coin’s silver averse has an engraved radiant word LATVIA written in traditional Latvian style. While the coin’s granite core and rising sunlight beams symbolize happiness and faith in the core of existence.
The maximum number of coins in circulation – is 7 000 copies. The coin can be purchased at Latvijas Banka and traditional monetary trading institutions – banks, souvenir and jewelry stores. The price of the coin in Latvijas Banka offices – 33.20 LVL
